Meet The Clinician

Michelle Rusk, MA, CCC-SLP is a nationally certified speech language pathologist, licensed in Virginia and North Carolina with over twelve years of experience providing speech therapy to children, adolescents and adults. She specializes in the young adult through older adult populations treating stroke, traumatic brain injury, apraxia, and cognition disorders. She has practiced and gathered experience working across many disorders and in various settings ranging from acute care, outpatient, inpatient and in both public and private schools. These diverse and challenging settings have helped her shape a successful therapeutic approach focusing on motivation, empathy, the brain's neuroplasticity and the health of the gut microbiome. Michelle believes that when the gut microbiome is within balance, the brain has the ability to optimize neural network abilities to change continuously throughout an individual's life. By incorporating lifestyle changes into her therapeutic model, Michelle is helping patients and families live overall healthier, whole lives.

She's a mom to four amazing kids, a wife to a wonderful husband, an animal lover, and a gardener. In her free time, she loves to cook, grow food in her backyard garden, spend time with the family, hike, eat and live well! She's authored two successful online series: The Holistic Living Interview series and The Rock Your Whole Health series. Michelle loves to motivate her patients and clients to thrive and feel confident again to do the things they've always loved too.
